Nerja Costa del Sol Historic District

Among its ruins, it is worth mentioning the monastery of Nuestra Señora de las Angustias, the patron saint of the town. Built in the 16th century, the interior is decorated with exquisite dome frescoes. Standing on the remains of a historic coastal fortress is one of the town’s most iconic sights: the Balcony of Europe (Balcón de Europa), today transformed into a lively seaside promenade ending in a stunning viewpoint overlooking the sea. Among the coastal buildings, the many watchtowers that stand along the coast are striking. Torre de Maro is a prime example of this type of architecture and offers some of the best views of the surrounding area. Águila Aqueduct is located in the Barranco de la Coradilla area.
