Nanyang Prefecture Yamen was first built in the Yuan Dynasty, with a history of more than 750 years. It was rebuilt and expanded on a large scale many times during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. By the end of the Qing Dynasty, the Yamen covered an area of ​​100 acres and had hundreds of halls and corridors. It had a rigorous structure and a grand scale, and was a miniature of the Forbidden City complex in Beijing. The existing Nanyang Prefecture Yamen has basically retained the original architectural layout, and is balanced and symmetrical along the central axis. The main buildings such as the screen wall, gate, ceremonial gate, lobby, Yingong gate, back hall, inner house gate and retreat hall are distributed on the central axis. The six rooms of Li, Hu, Bing, Xing, Li and Gong belonging to the prefectural government are built on the east and west side lines, as well as the Taxation Department, Experience Department, Prison Department, and Criminal Justice Hall. There are also East Flower Hall, West Flower Hall, official residence, official residence, warehouse, dungeon, stable and other houses and courtyards. The layout is civil on the left and military on the right, with a hall in front and a bedroom in the back, double doors and corridors, and order of respect for the hierarchy. It is a typical feudal prefecture-level government office with high historical, cultural and artistic value, and high ornamental value. It is worth a visit. The ticket to Nanyang Prefecture Yamen is 40 yuan and it is open from 8:00 to 18:00 every day. Outside the gate is a food and commercial street, which is quite lively at night.
