Western City - Nantes

With a long history, the old town of Nantes still permeates the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. Not far to the west from the train station is the towering Château des Ducs de Bretagne, with its wide and deep moat, stone-built thick city walls, and sturdy round enemy towers, which indeed look like a fortress from the outside. Entering the courtyard, however, is a beautiful Renaissance-style palace, and nearby is the Saint Pierre Cathedral.
