Once upon a time in Yangmei Town

Nanning·Guangxi There is a place about thirty or forty kilometers southwest of Nanning City, on the banks of the Zuo River, called Yangmei Town. Twenty years ago, I went to Nanning to participate in an event. When I heard about such a place, I took the opportunity during a break to take a day off, rode a long-distance bus, took a ferry, and spent a few hours heading straight for Yangmei Town. Indeed, Yangmei Town was desolate and simple, with the old streets and houses still maintaining their old appearance. A big yellow dog lay on the stone road, and when an old yellow ox walked across the stone road, it unceremoniously dropped several steaming piles of fresh cow dung. There was a restaurant on the riverbank made of plastic cloth, with a few broken tables, and the stove and big pot did not look very clean. A big rooster casually jumped onto the stove to stroll around. Worried about chicken droppings in the food, I endured the hunger and ultimately did not dare to order any dishes. Standing at the end of Linjiang Street, one could see the big bend of the Zuo River, with the river flowing gently and the river surface wide. It is said that Yangmei Town existed during the Song Dynasty and thrived during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The residents here also migrated from Shandong hundreds of years ago, thus retaining some of the dietary habits of the Shandong people. Now, Yangmei Ancient Town has become a tourist area, and transportation is also convenient. I just don't know how much of the ancient charm of those years can still be preserved?
