Cherry Blossom Poetry: Night Viewing of Cherry Blossoms at Nanjing's Pearl River

☘️Pearl River, located near Taiping North Road in Xuanwu District, Nanjing, flows from Wumiao Lock at Xuanwu Lake northward to Fuqiao Bridge southward, passing through Beijing East Road, Pearl Bridge, Wenchang Bridge, Xuefu Bridge, and Wendeli Bridge before finally flowing into the Inner Qinhuai River. 🌿The name "Pearl River" is associated with Chen Shubao of the Southern Dynasty. Once, Emperor Chen and his concubine were boating in the northern canal when a sudden rainstorm interrupted their entertainment. At that moment, an attendant pointed to the water droplets on the surface and exclaimed, "The whole river is filled with pearls!" Delighted by these words, Emperor Chen ordered the northern canal to be renamed Pearl River, a name that remains to this day. 🌾In late March every year, both banks of Pearl River become a popular cherry blossom viewing spot in Nanjing.
