Impressions of Nan'ao Island

Nan'ao Island is an important node on the 'Maritime Silk Road' and is now a national AAAA-level tourist attraction. When visiting here, the top recommendation is a one-day island tour, but you can also stay on the island for one or two days to enjoy the sea breeze. Parking on the island is inconvenient, there are no dedicated lanes for small electric vehicles, and there are few bus routes, so it is recommended to hire a car for the tour (you can start from Shantou or Chaozhou, with a small car costing about 500-700 yuan/day). Recommended spots: 🗼Changshanwei Lighthouse (top of picture 2), Qian'ao Lighthouse (bottom left of picture 2), Sanchongya Lighthouse (bottom right of picture 2); ⚗️The iconic building 'Gate of Nature' on the Tropic of Cancer Plaza in Nan'ao Bay (picture 6), and the large beach in front of it; 🌀The giant wind turbines on the top of Windmill Hill, which can be viewed from afar on the island road or up close by climbing to the top of the hill, towering and majestic; 🌈The colorful breeding boxes in the ten-thousand-acre oyster farm, which have become a rainbow sea, and you can taste oysters for 1 yuan each by the sea; 🏯The Nan'ao General Headquarters of Fujian and Guangdong (entrance fee 12 yuan/person), where national hero Zheng Chenggong and modern naval general Sa Zhenbing once guarded; 🎪Zhannan Pavilion, where you can climb up and overlook the vast South China Sea, with a sea wind farm not far away, which is said to produce squid. 👀There are many other beautiful sceneries on the island waiting to be discovered👣 For dining, you can choose Houzhai Town or Qing'ao Town, mainly seafood, with moderate prices (60-80 yuan/person). The bridge toll for Nan'ao Bridge is 96 yuan, which is a considerable expense, so negotiate in advance if hiring a car.
