Nice template. A major temple for the Nakhon Si Thammarat region. Please ask local the importance. I do not know want to say something that is not quite correct. There are a few different buildings. Each of them contains special artifacts. Most allow photos but some do not. When I visited there were not many people so it was nice for me. Graded only four stars because nothing was in English. I was interested to learn the history or significance of each item but no way to understand. I just looked at took photos. No tickets required. Free entrance. There was a toilet but I did not use so I cannot comment on quality. This place is not wheelchair easy. There might be wheelchair accessible access points but I did not see them. Historical Background: The city of Nakhon Si Thammarat was a prominent city in the ancient Malay kingdom of Tambralinga (2nd -13th century). In the later centuries this kingdom was under the influence of the Srivijaya empire. When king Si-Thamma Sokarat established the city of Nakhon Si Thammarat, he built a temple called Wat Phra Borommathat. Its current name, Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawiharn, dates from the early Ayutthaya period, when other buildings were added. The large Stupa is in the typical Sri Lankan style of that period. This temple is one of the most prominent Buddhist temples in southern Thailand. #travel #thingstodo
