Chinese New Year in Nakhon Sawan Chinese New Year falls on the first day of the first lunar month according to the Chinese calendar. There is no clear evidence of when the procession of Chao Pho and Chao Mae Pak Nam Pho first started. According to the story of an elder of Hainan people, Khun Tiangtun Chae Phu, the procession of the deities began before the epidemic. In the past, the procession by water took 2 days. The models of Chao Pho Theparak, Chao Pho Guan Yu, and Chao Mae Thapthim were invited to sit on a palanquin and then put on a rice or wood-carrying boat and sailed to the southern market, Ban Ta Kui, and then invited back to the shrine. On the second day, the procession will go north via the train station. The procession will only include the deities and the Phra Lo. Later, when land transportation was convenient, it was invited to parade around Pak Nam Pho Market.
