🙏🏻 Phra Pathom Chedi, the great sacred place of Thailand 🙏🏻

🙏🏻 Phra Pathom Chedi, originally called 'Phra Thom Chedi', is considered the great relic of Suvarnabhumi. King Mongkut (Rama IV) believed that this Phra Thom Chedi may have been built when the monks envoy of King Ashoka the Great traveled to Suvarnabhumi to spread their religion. 🙏🏻 Because the original chedi was shaped like an inverted bowl, similar to the Sanchi Stupa, but it had a prang-like spire. His Majesty believed that it may have been renovated by a royal family member. 🙏🏻 Therefore, it was given a new name, Phra Pathom Chedi, because he believed that this was the first chedi in Suvarnabhumi.
