Overlooking Mount Fuji from Jōshin'etsu-kōgen National Park.

In winter, Mount Fuji is closed off and cannot be approached. The best place to see Mount Fuji is at Sengen Park. This is a small mountain, and climbing 399 steps to the observation deck on the mountainside will give you a panoramic view of Mount Fuji. There are also many hiking trails on the mountain, and you may even encounter monkeys. The Sengen Shrine here also has a long history, and many Japanese tourists come here to pray.
