A Memorable Visit to Mostar

#postandearn My visit to Mostar was one of the most unforgettable parts of my trip through the Balkans. Arriving in this historic town in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, I was immediately struck by the mix of Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, and modern influences that give Mostar its unique character. The highlight, of course, was seeing the iconic Stari Most — the Old Bridge — arching gracefully over the Neretva River. Watching brave local divers leap into the turquoise water below was both thrilling and a bit nerve-wracking. I spent time just standing on the bridge, taking in the views of the old town on both sides and the surrounding mountains. Wandering through the cobbled streets of the bazaar, I found small shops selling copper crafts, traditional textiles, and local sweets. The smell of ćevapi and grilled meats drifted through the air, and I sat down to enjoy a hearty lunch while listening to the soft sounds of the nearby river. I also visited the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque, where I climbed the minaret for panoramic views over the town. It was a peaceful spot to reflect and admire how the old and new blend together in Mostar. This town carries a deep history and a strong spirit of resilience. Despite its tragic past, it now feels alive with culture, hospitality, and beauty.
