Freddie Mercury

#myhiddengems Belive it or not, the main reason for my visit was to see that bronze statue of Freddie Mercury. This resort town has been home to the likes of great Charlie Chaplin and Freddie mercury. That fact should take away any doubts whatsoever. Besides, there no shortage or reasons as to what makes this spectacular town by lake Geneva and the backdrops of Alpine, a worthy destination for your next getaway. If like me, you have a Swiss rail pass. You should not miss a trip to Montreux. Mine was a day trip. Although if you come in winter, may be accomodation options become more affordable. Till then Switzerland shall continue to see my cheap tactics. The train is such a great way to get around Switzerland. You get to see some very pretty sights of the lake and small towns as you pass by. Another useful piece of info, the ferries around Lake Geneva run frequently and with your Swiss Rail Pass you can hop on any of them for an amazing ride around the lake. You can visit the chillon castle once you get off the ferry. Again the entry us covered on your Swiss pass. The stairs can be a bit steep. When I returned to montreux, i walked around the waterfront park, which was also housing parts of the Jazz Festival. Some lore strolling and grabbing some snacks. Soon enough as the evening arrived.
