Punching in at the gem on the West Coast of the United States Highway 1~

Monterey is also a city with a long history. As early as the Age of Discovery, in 1542, Europeans followed the Spanish Navy fleet into Monterey Bay for the first time. In 1602, Sebastián Vizcaíno, commissioned by the Spanish governor, came here to chart the sea and named it Monterey for the first time, in honor of the Count of Monterey in Spain. After experiencing the Spanish colonial era, Mexican independence, and the Mexican-American War, California was eventually ceded by Mexico to the United States. Now it basically serves as a stopover for self-driving tourists on Highway 1, where they can check in and take photos as souvenirs.
