Northeast Loop Self-Driving Tour (10) "China's Northernmost Point" and "First Bend of the Longjiang River" Daxing'anling 2022.9.8 Clear weather, temperature 3-19°C. Heading north all the way, it gradually gets colder, and the autumn colors deepen (Photo 1). Traveling south to north, driving across the world, arriving at the northernmost tip of the motherland, once distant and unreachable, now firmly underfoot, marking another milestone in the journey of life. Departed at 8 a.m. for Mohe, detouring slightly to visit the First Bend of the Longjiang River Scenic Area to seek out the "north" (Photo 2). No major sights these two days, mainly to capture a sense of ceremony. After entering the scenic area, first arrived at the Ussuri Shoal, which is adjacent to the China-Russia border river, the Heilongjiang River. This is China's true "Arctic," at 53°33' north latitude (Photo 3). Here you can see two large stones, one of which is inscribed with "China's Northernmost Point" (Photo 4). Next, came to the "First Bend of the Longjiang River" (Photo 5), a unique landscape formed by the sharp meander of the Heilongjiang River. Climbed 943 steps to the mountaintop viewing platform, with the First Bend of the Longjiang River right below, offering a panoramic view, very spectacular, with Russia just across the river (Photo 6). The Heilongjiang River flows past the village, with Russia on the opposite bank (Photo 9). It is a pure land far from the city's hustle and bustle. This northernmost small village in China still retains its original atmosphere. In the evening, we arrived at Arctic Village in Mohe for accommodation. Arctic Village is not the northernmost, but it was developed earlier, has better facilities, and is well-known. Tomorrow, we will tour Arctic Village and then head to the next destination.
