The deity worshipped is Emperor Yamato Takeru There was a cool illustrated panel next to the shrine! It is said to have been founded by Emperor Kenso to Emperor Ninken (485-498). Emperor Yamato Takeru is enshrined in many places throughout the country, but this shrine is said to have the oldest history of all of them. As a connection to Emperor Yamato Takeru, within the precincts is Asahi Sankakuyama, a place where soldiers are said to have stopped and rested during the pacification of the Eastern Barbarians.
