[Shizuoka] Kakitagawa Park

Kakita River flows as groundwater from rain and melting snow that falls on the mountains around Mt. Fuji. It is a nationally designated natural monument. It is the only river whose water source is spring water only! Access: Take the Numazu Hakone Tozan Tokai bus from the south exit of JR Mishima Station (bound for Numasho and Fujiibara (via Santo Moon)). 1 minute walk from "Kakita River Spring Water Park". I was overwhelmed by the beautiful spring water I had never seen before! The emerald green pond is indescribably beautiful! Even in the middle of summer, the spring water makes you feel cool. You can actually see the water bubbling up from underground. When you walk around the park, you can enjoy seasonal flowers in bloom! From May to September, you can see white-petaled flowers called Mishima Baikamo blooming in the water. Due to the large amount of groundwater consumed, the drying up of the water sources in their habitat, and environmental pollution caused by the inflow of domestic wastewater, they were once thought to be extinct, but they can be seen here.
