Mianyang | The Severely Underrated Treasure City

Before visiting Mianyang, many people might ask what is there to do in Mianyang? After going there, you'll find there's too much fun to be had, and one day is simply not enough! 🟠 If you only have one day to spend in Mianyang, you'll realize that unless you're a special forces soldier ticking off sights, there really isn't enough time! 🔴 Visiting Mianyang can truly be a leisurely experience, with many attractions to see. It's recommended to visit multiple times! 🟣 It's less than a 2h drive from Chengdu, and this time we're planning to leave in the afternoon. 🟢 First stop: Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County in Mianyang, the hometown of the great Yu. This area is a walking district featuring the characteristic architecture of the Qiang people, with Yuwang Bridge to the west and the Earthquake Memorial Park and Beichuan Cultural Center to the east. It has a distinctive Qiang character, where you can buy Qiang specialties and clothing. During the day, you can climb the highest tower to view the entire Qiang city, and at night, the whole district along the river is lit up with a light show, creating a beautiful nightscape. 🏠 Address: Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County, Mianyang City - Shiquan North Street, Beichuan Banacha 🅿️ Parking: It is recommended to navigate to Yuwang Bridge. After driving there, do not cross the bridge when you see it from afar. There is a free parking lot on this side of the bridge where you can park, and then walk across the covered bridge over the river. The scenery is already beautiful from here. 🟡 Second stop: On the second day, head to Luohan Temple and Shengshui Temple, two temples that are close to each other and have different styles. The temples are large, so don't just glance over them, because there's too much to see. | Luohan Temple has more than 50 scenic spots within, built along the mountain which is not very high, so a slow walk won't be tiring. It's suitable for families to visit. There is a steep stone staircase leading directly to the Luohan Hall, but if you're not up for the climb, you can take the slope next to it. All roads and scenic spots are interconnected, so no matter where you go, you can reach each spot. | Shengshui Temple starts from the Auspicious Gate. Follow the stone steps slowly, and on both sides, there is a long corridor of Buddha statue sculptures, which is very spectacular. Each Buddha statue is lifelike and exquisitely crafted. Many people come here to take photos. 🥙 About food: Both temples offer vegetarian meals, Luohan Temple at 10r/person, Shengshui Temple at 15r/person. It's recommended to eat at Shengshui Temple, with over 40 dishes, very rich, and free for children. Alternatively, after visiting, you can go to Majia Alley Snack Street for some local snacks. Majia Alley is a street full of snacks, with a wide selection. The recommended 'cold dip' is a must-try. 🚌 About transportation: You can choose to drive yourself, parking is available at the temple entrance for 5r/day.
