Located in the heart of the city, its magnificent Gothic façade has an overwhelming presence. Once inside, the ceilings are high and the stained glass windows let in soft light, creating a sacred and quiet space. What was particularly impressive was the detailed sculptures and mosaic decorations. When I visited, I felt the weight of history and culture and was enveloped in a feeling of my heart being cleansed. Outside the cathedral, the busy Melbourne cityscape spreads out, but inside I could experience the silence as if time had stopped, and I felt that it was a place worth visiting.
