7 Days 6 Nights Slow Travel in Penang, Redang Island, and Kuala Lumpur

Our Itinerary: Home → Kuala Lumpur → Penang → Redang Island → Kuala Lumpur → Home Planned to be detailed and practical across two posts. Penang 🏨 Urban H Hotel: We booked a two-bedroom suite for four people at 550 RMB/night. Located in George Town, it offers great value for money with two separate bathrooms, though it lacks breakfast. Day 1: Travel: We couldn't find a direct flight, so we opted for a transfer in Kuala Lumpur, spending most of the day on the plane. After dropping off our luggage at the hotel, we quickly went out to find food. Lunch: Nearby is Yuan Kee Noodle House, run by an elderly couple. It's not a trendy spot and can't even be found on some review sites. No air conditioning but packed with people. Signature Char Siu Wanton Noodles: Oily but not greasy, with a chewy texture. The Char Siu is lean, perfect for those who don't like fatty meat. Afternoon: After eating, we strolled around Mural Street and Clan Jetties to digest. If you're too lazy to walk, you can take a Grab ride, usually under RM10 one way. Penang is truly a vibrant little city, with every alley bursting with color. On Mural Street, there's an ice cream shop called HEMA HEMA; I recommend the sage flavor 🍦. Evening: We went to Batu Beach to watch the sunset. Several sunset restaurants are available; we chose Natsu Bar & Dining. If you want a spot on the beach, it's best to go early. The restaurant offers fusion cuisine, which is average, but the view is stunning. Day 2: Breakfast: We went to Seven Streets and Eight Temples, highly recommending the barefoot fried kway teow and Nam Lai duck kway teow soup 👍🏻. Seating is mostly set up by drink stalls, and you need to order a few drinks to sit down and eat. The environment is quite poor, with many mosquitoes in the summer. Encountered a monk asking for alms; after giving some change, he tied a red string on our wrists. Later, we found out he was a fake monk. Morning Activity: Visited the Peranakan Museum 🎫 with an entrance fee of RM25. You can pay extra for a guide or rent Peranakan costumes. A feast of old Nanyang dreams, with a dazzling array of antiques collected by the owner. Filming location for the TV series "The Little Nyonya." Lunch: Tried local Peranakan cuisine at TINA'S KITCHEN. Warmly decorated, and the owner is very friendly and talkative. Sampled homemade cookies; ended up buying two large bags as souvenirs 🎁. Afternoon Activity: Went to Penang Hill, taking the funicular to the top. Fresh air and many 🐒 on the hill. Planned to wait for the sunset, but it got foggy, and the sun hid behind the clouds. Dinner: Once you get used to the lemongrass flavor, Peranakan cuisine actually tastes quite good. Day 3: Morning: Had brunch at Au Au White Coffee. Toast and curry noodles were delicious, but the white coffee was just average. Travel: Then we headed to the airport. Days 4 to 6 were spent on Redang Island, and the last day was back in Kuala Lumpur, which will be covered in the next post. #Malaysia #VisaFreeTravel #MyUniqueTravelGuide
