Wat Ku Suntharam, Maha Sarakham Province

The temple was established in 1844. This temple was first built in the southern area of ​​the current temple. Later in 1952, Phra Khru Sunthon Sathukit built a new monastery. The locals called it Wat Ku Sanam because there was a chedi or laterite ancient site in the temple area. At that time, there were two temples: Wat Ban Sanam and Wat Ku Sanam. Therefore, they agreed to move Wat Ban Sanam to Wat Ku Sanam and named it Wat Ku Suntharam. Artistic Style The laterite ancient site is surrounded by a laterite wall. According to the original plan, there was a horseshoe-shaped moat surrounding the wall (the plan stated that it was surrounded by a pond and a pond). At present, the condition of the moat is not visible. As for the ancient site within the wall, it is believed that it was a laterite castle in the style of ancient sites in the Khmer culture period. However, its shape cannot be determined because the temple built a large stucco Buddha statue to cover it since 1956. The ancient site that remains today is the wall, which is still in a relatively good condition.
