LIONG HOK BIO - MAGELANG

Liong Hok Bio Temple. This graceful pagoda is very special because its architecture is unique and still intact. Only a few parts are undergoing repairs. You could say, Bio Liong Hok is the pride of the Magelang community that holds a lot of history. This pagoda witnessed the struggle of the Chinese community who participated against the Dutch in the Java war, which was led by Prince Diponegoro. Liong Hok Bio Temple was founded by Kapitein Be Koen Wie (Tjok Lok) in 1864. Kapitein Be Koen Wie was one of the wealthy merchants from Solo who was trusted by the Dutch at that time. Liong Hok Bio Temple which is located on Jl. South Square No. 2 Magelang, Central Java, apart from being a place of worship, it is also a witness to the history of the struggle of the Chinese during the independence period and shows the contribution of the Chinese people to the struggle of the Indonesian people. This pagoda is still intact until now, only a few have been discovered. This place of worship symbolizes the splendor of worship and those who are worshipped. At the Liok Hok Bio temple there is a hio loo or the largest incense holder in the world. Hio loo weighs 3.8 tons with a diameter of 178 centimeters and a height of 158 centimeters.
