The Hidden Gem of Kyoto: Sanzen-in Temple

Sanzen-in Temple is a relatively lesser-known attraction in Kyoto. Although it is still administratively part of Kyoto City, it is located in the mountainous area in the north, far from the city center, so even on Saturdays, there are not many tourists. You can get there by taking the Kyoto Bus No. 17 (there are two No. 17 buses, this one is operated by Kyoto Prefecture, not the city bus), and the journey takes about an hour and a half. The temple buildings of Sanzen-in are similar to those in other parts of Japan, featuring traditional Japanese architecture. However, the courtyard is truly stunning, absolutely worth the more than an hour's journey. Especially under the morning sun, it is like a fairyland, instantly calming down, very healing.
