Chonnabot, Ban Mae Lai: A Tranquil Forest Retreat

Staying at Chonnabot, Ban Mae Lai, Mae On District, Chiang Mai, is an experience that feels like escaping all the chaos of life and stepping into a world that moves at a gentler pace. As soon as you turn into the accommodation area, you're surrounded by tall trees, a clear stream flowing by, and the soft chirping of birds, creating a sense of calm from the very first moment. This is a simple, classic wooden house nestled perfectly in the forest—not overly extravagant, but exuding a natural charm. The project features two houses named "Baan Hing Hoi" (Firefly House) and "Baan Mod Som" (Orange Ant House). This time, I chose to stay at Baan Mod Som, a two-story house situated right next to the stream. Just opening the door on the lower floor, you can clearly hear the sound of flowing water—a soothing sound that feels like nature is embracing you constantly. The house is almost entirely made of wood, with a pleasant woody aroma and a warm atmosphere as soon as you step inside. The lower floor offers a relaxing area by the stream where you can stretch your legs and listen to the sounds of water and the forest all day. The cool breeze from the stream flows in constantly, making it comfortable even without air conditioning. The upper floor is a bedroom with windows that open to a full view of the trees, making it feel like waking up in the heart of the forest. The morning air is incredibly refreshing, with a natural coolness, no car noises, no human chatter—just the peaceful silence that makes you want to return again and again. At night, the atmosphere is incredibly romantic. The warm lights from the house reflecting on the water give off the ultimate cozy forest retreat vibe. Sitting and listening to the stream and the rustling leaves is indescribably relaxing. Looking up at the sky, you'll see stars scattered across the heavens—a simple yet healing experience that no café or luxury resort can offer. The surrounding area of Ban Mae Lai is also very peaceful and natural, with light walking trails through the forest, perfect for those looking to recharge their lives. The locals are friendly, and the weather is pleasant all day, especially in the mornings and evenings when the cool breeze makes you reluctant to return to the city. Overall, Chonnabot, Ban Mae Lai, is a place that brings back the simplicity we've long forgotten.
