Wat Chong Kham-Chong Klang, Mae Hong Son Province

Chong Kham is a third-class royal temple in Tambon Chong Kham, Amphoe Mueang Mae Hong Son, Mae Hong Son Province. It was built in 1797 and is the first temple in Mae Hong Son. Wat Chong Kham and Wat Chong Klang are considered twin temples of Wat Chong Klang because they are located within the same wall. When viewed from the front, Wat Chong Kham is on the left, while Wat Chong Klang is on the right. Wat Chong Kham and Wat Chong Klang are located in the middle of Mae Hong Son and are symbols of the culture of this great city. They are two temples located in the same area but separated by a chapel. Inside the chapel, there is the peaceful beauty of the Wihan Luang Pho To at Wat Chong Kham, Mae Hong Son, which enshrines a large Burmese-style Buddha statue that is over 90 years old. This is another place that you must pay homage and ask for blessings at least once in your life. "Chong" is a Shan language used to refer to a temple, meaning "castle", which is in line with the fact that the Shan people build temples to resemble Burmese palaces, hence the name of the temple "Chong".
