Neoclassical building

Velázquez Palace Madrid is located at P. de Venezuela, 2, 28001 Madrid, the nearest metro station is Ibiza around 800 meters 10 minutes walk. It was built between 1881 and 1883 for the celebration of the National Mining Exhibition, held in the city between the month of May and November 1883. But today it currently belongs to the Ministry of Culture and is used as a temporary exhibition hall for Reina Sofia National Art Centre Museum. It is a large neoclassical, two-toned brick and tile building covered with iron vaults and glass to naturally illuminate the rooms. The Palacio de Velazquez is the only surviving building of a number of buildings erected for mining exhibition in the capital largest green space Retiro Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
