The St. Paul's archway building combines the style of European Renaissance and Oriental architecture. It consists of three to five layers of triangular pyramids, whether it is the towering cross at the top of the arch, or the statue of the baby below the bronze pigeon and the angel and flowers. The surrounding Madonna statues are full of a rich religious atmosphere, called the "three-dimensional Bible." More than 400 years ago, the Portuguese invaded Macao and brought Catholicism to Macau. 1562, the Portuguese built the church in Macao for several years, named "St. Paul" church. The Portuguese word "St. Paul" is pronounced close to the "Samba" in the local dialect, so it is also called "The Great St. Paul Church". Later, the church was destroyed twice in the fire. In 1602, St. Paul's Church was rebuilt and completed in 1637 in 35 years. A fire in 1835 burned the church, leaving only the front wall of 30,000 silver, which became today's Ruins of St. Paul.
