Taipei Ximending Food Recommendations

First Stop: Xike Lai Breakfast Shop It’s said that the famous Yonghe Soy Milk often has a crowd, so many of their dishes are pre-made. This small breakfast shop, however, has only a few seats but serves incredibly delicious food, all freshly made and piping hot. During my meal, I noticed many locals coming in for takeout. Highly recommend their egg pancakes, which are super crispy, and their potato cakes, which are very flavorful and quite different from McDonald's. Second Stop: Shimen Salted Crispy Chicken Shimen is my favorite salted crispy chicken spot in Taipei. When ordering, make sure to ask for garlic and spicy seasoning, as it really enhances the flavor of the fried items. My must-orders include green beans, tempura, baby corn, king oyster mushrooms, and, of course, chicken. The portions for individual items are quite generous. Third Stop: Ganmei Alley The only thing I recommend here is their sesame flatbread, as it reminds me of the taste of Beijing roast duck 🤣. The other items are just okay in my opinion. However, the place is quite spacious with two floors, so it’s worth a try.
