#MacauAttractions St. Augustine's Church, also known as Longxu Temple and Longsong Temple, is located at No. 2, Place du Conde, Macao Special Administrative Region, China. It is the first church in Macao's history to preach in English and was built in 1591. St. Augustine's Church was founded in 1591 by Spanish Augustinian friars. The original architecture of the church was very simple, so the priests covered the roof with palm leaves to keep out the wind and rain. Whenever a strong wind blew, the palm leaves would fly in the wind, and the Chinese, looking from afar, thought that this scene looked like the standing dragon's whiskers, so they called the church "Longxu Temple", and later changed it to "Longsong Temple" in Cantonese. The church faces south and has a simple facade in the classical style of the European Renaissance. The exterior walls are painted yellow, with a triangular pediment on top and a shrine in the middle housing a statue of the Virgin Mary. The main structure of the church is brick and wood, with a sloping roof, tiled roof, and wooden roof frame. At the entrance stands a pair of Roman Tuscan stone columns. Various activities are held here every year. It is an important religious and cultural place in Macau. It is definitely worth a visit! !
