As many of you know, I have a special fondness for everything related to Singapore and Malaysia. So when I heard that Raffles had opened in Galaxy Macau, I decided that my next visit to Macau would definitely include a stop there. This trip to Macau was quite sudden and unplanned, so without any reservations, Raffles Lounge seemed like the best choice. Raffles in Macau is also grand and luxurious, but I feel it lacks the elegant and noble atmosphere of its Singapore counterpart. Is this just my bias? A day's itinerary always involves eating, eating, and more eating. By the time dinner came around, my energy was low, so I only planned to order two main dishes to sample. Even though it was just the Lounge and we ordered so little, the staff still served us bread. One was a hard sesame bread, and the other was warm and soft, both satisfying. First up was the clam linguine. The noodles were very wide and absorbed the sauce well. The sauce was a rich seafood sauce with a bit of spice, which paired perfectly with the noodles. The clams and fried garlic slices were just the finishing touches. The other dish was an Australian M7 Tenderloin, cooked to medium rare. The two pieces of tenderloin were not melt-in-your-mouth, but they were tender and paired well with the rich black garlic and beef jus. The asparagus and eggplant puree on the side could contend for the most popular side dish. Even though I was quite full, a bit of dessert always makes the meal complete. The mango passion fruit chocolate puff was refreshing and balanced, not overly heavy. But for true refreshment, the chrysanthemum lychee yuzu cake stood out even more. I didn't expect there to be Petit Fours... After a full meal, it was time to head back to Hong Kong. The day went by so quickly!
