Lushan Botanical Garden

Lushan Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences, formerly known as Lushan Forest Botanical Garden, is located in the Hanpokou Valley southeast of Lushan Mountain in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. It is a subtropical mountain botanical garden. Founded in 1934 by renowned Chinese botanists Hu Xianhua, Qin Renchang, and Chen Fenghuai, the garden focuses on introducing and domesticating plants, developing and utilizing subtropical mountain wild plant resources, and cultivating new varieties. It is a renowned subalpine botanical garden and the first formal botanical garden in China dedicated to plant science research. As a comprehensive research institution linking plants with agriculture, forestry, horticulture, medicine, and environmental protection, it also serves as a place for popularizing botanical knowledge, covering an area of over 5,000 mu. The garden features areas for fir and cypress, trees, rock gardens, emerald gardens, greenhouses, marsh plants, nurseries, cloud tea gardens, kiwi introduction areas, and medicinal herb gardens. Lushan's specialty cloud tea and numerous ornamental plants are all produced here.
