This underrated city is home to a mountain paradise

When it comes to mountains in Jiangxi, ✅most people think of Wugong Mountain or Sanqing Mountain. But they often overlook the World Heritage Site of Guifeng Mountain. The mountain's unique rock formations are like sculptures, creating a stunning natural landscape. Even Xu Xiake was amazed by the mountain and wrote, "The strange peaks of Guifeng are unmatched by Yandang Mountain." It has 36 peaks, each with its own unique view. ✅Hiking Route Visitor Center → Osmanthus Garden → General Building → Sandao Pass → Nantian Yizhu → Camel Peak → Guifeng Lake ✨The hike is of moderate difficulty, with many flat sections. We recommend the full route, which takes 4–5 hours. If you prefer a shorter hike, you can choose the 2-hour Turtle Line or Xu Xiake Line. The scenic area provides maps with recommended routes. ✅Must-visit Spots 1⃣️Hero Slope: A staircase carved into the rock, offering a view that feels like an alien planet. You can also take a photo with Guifeng Mountain. 2⃣️Camel Peak: A nearly 90° vertical ladder, thrilling and exciting. 3⃣️Yixian Sky: A 100-meter-high plank road between steep peaks, offering breathtaking views. 4⃣️Guifeng Lake: Take a boat ride on the lake for a different perspective of the unique peaks and rocks. ✅Transportation Take a high-speed train to Yiyang Station, then a 15-minute taxi ride to the scenic area. There are few direct high-speed trains, so we recommend transferring at Shangrao Station or Nanchang Station. 🏡Accommodation There are many hotels and guesthouses within a few hundred meters of the scenic area entrance, offering rooms with views of the Danxia landform.
