It was a small city, so it was easy to walk around, and everything I saw seemed to be connected to the past. This 2 nights and 3 days trip was a trip where I could fully experience the history + traditional streets + emotional photos + local tastes of Luoyang, the ancient city of China! ⸻ 🗓 Luoyang 2 nights and 3 days Itinerary ⸻ Day 1 - Arrival & Admiring the Traditional Streets 🏨 Morning - Arrival in Luoyang & Check-in at the Accommodation • Laocheng District (老城区) is recommended for accommodation! • There are many traditional Hanok-style guesthouses, and the street view is also good. 🎐 Afternoon – Laochenggu Street + Jinguo Temple Pagoda Tour • Pretty signs, murals that feel like ink and wash paintings • A sentimental street with tiled roofs, vermilion gates, and street snacks • Quiet but profound atmosphere 🍲 Dinner – Luoyang Shutangmyeon + Night Market • Famous Food: Luoyang Shutangmyeon (洛阳水席) → A traditional meal with several soup dishes served as a course • Simple snacks such as grilled buns, beef jerky, and lamb skewers are also good value for money ⸻ Day 2 – Longmen Grottoes & Historical Appreciation ⛰️ Morning – Visit Longmen Grottoes (龙门石窟) • One of the three major grottoes in China • A true historical heritage with the entire mountain wall carved with Buddhist statues • Overwhelming scale + quiet atmosphere → Just admiration 📸 Photo Points • View of the grottoes and stairs • Buddhist statues Side silhouette shot / Composition of coming down the stairs • Even on a cloudy day, there is still atmosphere 🏛 Afternoon – Luoyang Museum or Buddhist historical site exploration • Small but rich Luoyang Museum / White Horse Temple (the first temple in China) • From ancient relics to Buddhist culture, you can enjoy it all in one place 🌃 Evening – Walk around Laocheng again at dusk + enjoy the night view • Lights on Laocheng Street, not too much, so it’s more emotional • Recommended to end the day quietly with a cup of tea ⸻ Day 3 – Appreciate flowers or parks + return home 🌸 Morning – Peony or Wangcheng Park walk • Luoyang Peony Festival in spring (early to mid-April) • Otherwise, you can take a quiet walk in Wangcheng Park • The atmosphere of local residents walking around is also nice 🍜 Lunch – Noodles & Souvenir Shopping • A bowl of Luoyang-style noodles → Simple and delicious • Souvenirs: Peony patterned towel, teacup, local tea, etc. → Then go to the airport or train station ⸻ 💡 Luoyang Travel Tips • Purchase Longmen Grottoes tickets in advance through Trip.com or WeChat • Shutangmyeon is a traditional course, so it is recommended for 2 or more people rather than alone • There are many areas where you can walk → Comfortable shoes are essential • Laocheng night view is well-lit even without a tripod • For those who like history, a museum and grottoes intensive itinerary is also recommended ⸻ ✍️ One-line review Luoyang was quiet but deep, and old but not boring.
