How to take the train from Shenzhen to Hong Kong

Updated guide for budget travelers As we know, the cost of living in Hong Kong is very high. So for this trip, we chose to stay in Shenzhen for 2 nights and then cross over to Hong Kong. The two places are very close to each other, and you can easily take a train to get there. Most of the reviews we saw recommend taking the high-speed train, which requires advance booking and is suitable for those who are strict with their schedule. However, we wanted to be flexible with our time and were worried about long queues at immigration, so we took the metro instead. How to travel: Take the Metro to Luohu Station in Shenzhen. Then look for signs pointing to Hong Kong. Follow the signs to the immigration checkpoint. After passport and luggage checks, you will arrive at the Hong Kong side, which is the Lowu Metro Station. Buy an Octopus card and top it up to continue your metro journey to the station near your accommodation. A highlight of the Hong Kong metro stations is the signage at each station.
