Intro - Wat Xieng Thong is located at the confluence of the Nam Khan and Mekong rivers. This is the most important ancient temple in the ancient capital of Luang Prabang. Currently, the temple is a place to preserve many ancient relics, religious spirit, and traditional Lao arts. The name Wat Xieng Thong means the temple of the golden city. Attractions - Wat Xieng Thong is the largest temple in Luang Prabang, a great symbol of history, religion, culture and tourism of Laos. The temple was built in the traditional Lao architectural style from the 16th century. The walls are carved with many sophisticated patterns and there are many walls worshiping Buddha. Apart from the restoration of the roof, gilding of gold leaf, and lacquering of the entrances and walls, the temple is almost intact as when it was first built. - Wat Xieng Thong Laos is open daily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The entrance fee is 20,000 kip (55k/person). Note: This is an active temple, with many monks praying and living at the temple.
