Wat Xieng Thong

#Rainy season attractions Wat Xieng Thong (Wat Xieng Thong) is a royal temple of the Lan Xang Dynasty, the Luang Prabang Dynasty, and the Lao Dynasty. It is located in Luang Prabang, Laos. It was built around 2103 by King Sai Setthathirat, the ruler of the Lan Xang Kingdom. It is located near the Mekong River. It is a temple with beautiful northern Lan Xang architecture. It is called the "Jewel of Lan Xang Art". The Sim of Wat Xieng Thong or the Ubosot of Wat Xieng Thong was influenced by Lanna architecture. During the reign of King Sai Setthathirat, the royal craftsmen were brought from Chiang Mai and the prototype was created from the Wihan of Wat Lok Moli, Chiang Mai, Lanna Kingdom. It was built with brick and mortar. The highlight is the three-tiered roof, which is gently curved and slopes downward. In the middle of the roof ridge, there is a gable or Sattaburipan, which is a simulation of the universe according to Buddhist beliefs. The pediment is carved in the shape of a Ta Wen flower or a sun pattern. This temple was renovated in 1928. #wattosann
