Spectacular views of rice terraces

During a recent stay in Guilin, I was able to make a long day trip to visit the Longji rice terraces. For those unaware it is a somewhat tiring 3 hour plus ride from guilin. The previous night i had help in figuring out the buses. You see there are two main areas of rice terraces Pingan and dazhai. While people at the hostel said they preferred dazhai. Upon looking into the transport, it appeared way trickier. So, I decided on Pingan. It was a bus ride from guilin to the longji bus station. I paid a little over 11 USD for a ticket allows me access to the scenic area for the next 2 days. Turns out even pingan was gorgeous and there is a local community of zhuang people who have a different dialect and sense of dressing. When I arrived the weather was nice and sunny. I was able to hike to both the viewing points that exist in pingan. It's a bit of a hike, so prepare for it. Needless to say there were exceptional views all along the way. So much greenery and so refreshing to have gotten out of Chinese cities which started to seem all the same after while.
