Kensington Gardens, London

There are several subway stations around Kensington Gardens. It is only about 300 meters from the Paddington area to the subway station "Lancaster Gate" on the north side of the gardens, so it is most convenient to enter from here. There is a body of water between Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. The eastern half of the water is called "The Serpentine" and the western half is called "The Long Water". Kensington Gardens were once the private gardens of Kensington Palace and are now one of London's Royal Parks. The gardens are jointly owned by the City of Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and border Hyde Park in west central London. The gardens cover 107 hectares (265 acres). The open spaces of Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, Green Park and St James's Park together form an almost continuous "green lung" in central London. Kensington Gardens is listed on the Grade I List of Historic Parks and Gardens.
