The Barbican Centre in London is one of the three major music performance venues in London. Located in the heart of London, it is the largest multi-media arts centre in Europe. The Barbican Hall is the home venue for the renowned London Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and it was also once the home of the Royal Shakespeare Company in London. The Barbican Conservatory is located on the rooftop of the Barbican Centre. It is a vibrant artificial oasis in the big city, open to the public since 1984, and it houses over 2,000 species of tropical plants and trees. Walking into the conservatory, the lush plants and the humid air make you feel as if you have left the city and entered a magical tropical jungle. However, the backdrop of this jungle is an industrial-style concrete building, giving a surreal mix of sensations. The giant palm trees thrive exceptionally well in the conservatory environment. There is a cactus and succulent area with a variety of shapes and colors that are dazzling to the eyes.
