London Transport Museum

The London Transport Museum is located in Covent Garden in the British capital of London. Founded in 1980, it is a museum with the theme of the development of public transport in London. The English name of the London Transport Museum was changed to "London's Transport Museum" in 2000. The main building occupied by the museum was formerly a flower market building built in 1872. It is an elegant Victorian industrial building. The Flower Market Building was then part of Covent Garden Flower Market, one of the main markets in London selling flowers, vegetables and fruit. In 1974 the flower market moved to Vauxhall and the building became vacant. The building underwent extensive refurbishment between 1978 and 1979 and was completed in 1980, when it became the main building of the London Transport Museum. The London Transport Museum houses a large collection of London's public transport from different periods. These include various types of buses, taxis, trolleybuses, trams and even train carriages, while other exhibits include different posters, reference books and staff uniforms. In addition, the museum used to have a boutique selling related products, models and books. Due to limited space in the museum building itself, not all exhibits can be displayed. The vast majority of its collection is housed at the Acton Garage branch west of central London. The branch covers an area of ​​6,000 square feet and has a collection of 370,000 items. Many large exhibits are displayed there.
