The failed one-day search for the Loch Ness Monster

#AprilGoodDestinations2025 #Loch Ness When traveling to Scotland, how can you not visit the legendary Loch Ness? Although my initial attitude was "I might as well go and take a look since I'm already here", I unexpectedly enjoyed this little trip so much. We started our one-day tour from Edinburgh, passing through several beautiful towns and valleys in the Highlands along the way. Our driver and tour guide was a great storyteller, telling us stories about Scottish history and various gossip about water monsters (it is said that Nessie was even on the BBC), which ensured that the long drive wasn't boring. When we arrived at Loch Ness, the lake was really bigger than we could imagine! It is much more spectacular than what I thought it would be just a "small tourist lake". The water is deep and calm. When the weather is good, the lake surface is like a deep blue mirror, giving off a sense of mystery. Even if no water monster appears, it is still worth a visit. We also took a boat trip out on the lake. The lake breeze was a little cold, but very comfortable. The boat will use a sonar to scan the bottom of the water, simulating a "search for Nessie" scene, which is a bit of fun for tourists (laughs). There is also an audio guide on the boat, which introduces the geography, ecology and history of Loch Ness, which is quite interesting. The ruins of Urquhart Castle by the lake are worth a visit. The view of Loch Ness from a high vantage point is superb and also suitable for taking photos. If you are not in a hurry, you can have a hot drink in the lakeside cafe and slowly feel the tranquility and freshness of the highlands. Although I didn't see the legendary monster, the tranquility and grandeur brought by Loch Ness exceeded my original expectations.
