Yingxing Tower in Lishui | Landmark Building | A feng shui treasure in Lishui

Yingxing Tower, located in the Oujiang Riverside Scenic Area of Lishui, Zhejiang, stands 45.9 meters tall with nine floors, covering an area of 2480 square meters, and was rebuilt in 2009. Lishui, formerly known as Chuzhou, has a history of 1419 years. In the ninth year of the Sui Kaihuang era (589), when the state and county were established, it coincided with the time when the Shao Wei constellation of scholars was in the sky, hence the name Chuzhou, and the mountain opposite the Xiahai River (now south of the Zijin Bridge) was named Shao Wei Mountain. The 'Dictionary of Chinese Place Names' records: 'Shao Wei Mountain is located ten miles southeast of Lishui, Zhejiang, also known as Da Kua Mountain, named after the county's corresponding Shao Wei scholar star, hence the mountain is called Shao Wei, and the state is called Chuzhou.' The Qing Dynasty Daoguang edition of the 'Lishui County Annals' also clearly states: 'Shao Wei Mountain is south of the Xiahai River, where there was once a temple dedicated to the Shao Wei star deity, named after the county's corresponding Shao Wei scholar star.' Yingxing Tower, named after the 'Shao Wei Scholar Star' in the sky, was originally built in the third year of the Southern Song Dynasty's Kaixi era (1207). The rubbing of the 'Yingxing Tower Stele' written by Ye Zonglu and inscribed by He Dan still exists, detailing the construction of Yingxing Tower. Chuzhou was also named after the 'Scholar Star' constellation, making Yingxing Tower of significant historical commemorative value and landmark significance. Yingxing Tower has been repaired and rebuilt through the ages, and was still standing during the Republic of China period until it was burned down in 1944.
