Huanggang Dong Village | The tranquility in a lesser-known Dong village

📍Attraction Address: Departing from Zhaoxing Dong Village, after driving a short distance on the Xiaramen Expressway, turn into the mountain path towards Huanggang Dong Village, covering a total of 42km, taking about 1 hour. The last ten or so kilometers of mountain road leading to Huanggang are quite winding, and on the day we went, we also saw some minor landslides on the road. 🚗Transportation to Attraction: There is no admission fee for Huanggang Dong Village; you can drive directly into it. When we arrived, we parked on the roadside right at the entrance of the village, but actually, you can drive further into the village center near the village committee, where you will see a clear open area with parking spaces available on the roadside. 👍️Must-Visit Spots: If you dislike the hustle and bustle and commercialization of Zhaoxing Dong Village, then Huanggang Dong Village is the complete opposite. Five drum towers are lined up along the main road of the village, and there are only 2-3 small homestays opened in the village, with almost no commercialization. Even during the May Day holiday, there were only a few groups of tourists in the village. From the research, some say that Huanggang Dong Village is one of the most intact Dong villages in terms of settlement architecture and cultural ecology preservation in the entire Qiandongnan region. The village is almost entirely composed of traditional wooden stilted buildings. Many water barns and grain stilted buildings are built directly over ponds, with ducks and fish raised underneath. The elderly and children in the village mostly wear daily clothes that retain Dong ethnic characteristics, and the village's small tailor shop also sells Dong-patterned fabrics, which are very beautiful. 🎟️Ticket Information: No admission fee 💗Other tips: 【Eat】Huanggang Farmhouse Restaurant Unassuming but super super delicious! Although it's just a simple farmhouse, the home-cooked stir-fries are surprisingly tasty. Stir-fried vegetables with smoked meat, the best smoked meat quality throughout the journey, cut into fine strips and stir-fried together, bursting with the aroma and freshness of smoked meat! Simple stir-fried chives with eggs, local eggs fried to perfection, local chives sweet and fresh, a perfect match. The rice is fragrant and sticky. Simple yet homely, ordinary but delicious! So good that you'll want to return again and again, and at just 60 yuan, it was my favorite meal of the entire trip.
