Linjiang: A Border Town in the Heart of Changbai Mountain

Linjiang is located in the southeast of Jilin Province, in the heart of Changbai Mountain, and on the banks of the Yalu River. It has a long history and was formerly known as "Mao'er Mountain." It was an important base for the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army and boasts unique natural scenery and rich cultural heritage. Changchun Film Studio has shot more than 30 films in Linjiang, including "Five Golden Flowers," "Tracks in the Snowy Forest," and "The Mysterious Traveler." I stayed in Linjiang for one night while traveling along Route 331, and I was deeply impressed by a few things. First, the small town is very clean, even though it had just experienced a flood. Second, all the marked parking spaces in the city are free, which is impossible in other places. Third, the main roads in the city become night markets in the evening, with traffic police guarding both ends. At night, the square in front of the municipal government building becomes a lively cultural activity square for citizens. The main attractions in Linjiang City include Jiangxin Island Park, Chen Yun's Former Residence, the Memorial Hall of the Four Defenses of Linjiang Battle, and Beishan Park. Among them, Jiangxin Island Park faces Dongjiang County in North Korea across the river. The park is shaded by green trees and has beautiful scenery. It is connected to the urban area by the Jiangxin Island Bridge. There is a huge statue of Chen Yun on the island, which is a beautiful landmark of Linjiang.
