The twin UNESCO world heritage sites of Fountains Abbey and Studley royal gardens just outside of Ripon showcase two impressive parts of the areas history. The ruins of the abbey destroyed during the reformation under the Henry VIII and the 18th century water garden are both stunning and insightful in equal measures.
