I decided to stay a few more days in this ancient village

Lijia Mountain Village has become my favorite place in Shanxi this year. Back in college, I had heard of the famous Lijia Mountain Village, but because it was so close, I never made the trip. This time, due to work reasons, I finally had the opportunity to come here. Lijia Mountain Village is close to the ancient town of Qikou, yet it is exceptionally quiet. Here, I met Niu Niu's mom, who told me that there are only a dozen or so residents left in the village, and in winter, they also move to the new cave dwellings at the foot of the mountain. The entire village is almost abandoned, just as Mr. Wu Guanzhong said, from a distance, it looks like an ancient Han dynasty tomb. I chose to stay at the Xicai Master's Courtyard, a 200-year-old house where an uncle and aunt provide three simple but delicious meals a day. When there are no tourists, I sit on the high roof to enjoy the breeze and watch the sunset; after the sun sets, I walk along the ancient path, as if I can still hear the bells of the camel caravans, the roar of the Yellow River, and the shouts of laborers.
