Guide to Lijiang: No Need to Get Up Early or Climb Mountains to See Snow Mountains 🤩||⛰️ 8:00–8:15: Watch the sunrise over the snow mountains. On December 31, the sunrise is at 8:07. We stayed at a hotel on the edge of Lijiang Ancient Town, so we could see the sunrise from there. If you can't see the sunrise from your hotel, we recommend going to Black Dragon Pool Park, Baisha Ancient Town, or Dongba Valley early in the morning. Zhongyi Market → Yulong Snow Mountain Scenic Area Visitor Center (approx. 11 mins per trip) 🚌 9:30–10:30: Take Bus 101 (approx. 40–50 mins) We recommend sitting on the left side of the bus so you can see the snow mountains. When you arrive at Dongba Valley, a ticket inspector will board the bus and ask you to buy a CNY100 adult ticket for the scenic area (you'll still need to buy a ticket for the scenic area even if you've already bought a cable car ticket). Visitor Center → Yak Meadow (recommended reservation time: 12:00–12:30; we recommend making a reservation for 2 hours after you arrive at the visitor center) 🚌 10:30–11:30: Queue (approx. 30 mins); take the scenic area shuttle bus (approx. 30 mins) 🚠 11:30–12:30: Queue (approx. 1 hour); take the cable car (approx. 25 mins) ⛰️ 12:30–14:10: Approx. 1 hour 45 mins 🚠 14:10–14:45: Queue (approx. 10 mins); take the cable car (approx. 25 mins) Recommended activities: Yak Meadow is an alpine pasture on Yulong Snow Mountain. It is at a high altitude (approx. 3,650m) and has beautiful views of the snow mountains. If you visit in winter, the grass will be yellow. If you want to see a large green meadow, we recommend visiting outside of winter. Yak Meadow → Spruce Meadow (recommended reservation time: 15:00–15:30) 🚌 14:45–15:20: Return to the scenic area shuttle bus transfer point, then take the shuttle bus to Spruce Meadow (approx. 40 mins) 🚠 15:20–15:30: Take the cable car (approx. 10 mins, fully enclosed cable car) ⛰️ 15:00–16:35: Approx. 1 hour 30 mins 🚠 16:35–16:40: Take the cable car down the mountain Recommended activities: You can take a walk and take photos at Spruce Meadow, and enjoy panoramic views of the snow mountains. In winter, the grass is yellow and the mountains are covered in snow. In summer, the grass is green. Spruce Meadow → Blue Moon Valley 🚌 16:40–16:50: Take the scenic area shuttle bus to Shuiyue Pavilion in Blue Moon Valley (approx. 10 mins) or buy a ticket for the electric car (CNY50 per person) to Blue Moon Valley. ⛰️ 16:50–17:30: Approx. 40 mins Recommended activities: Blue Moon Valley is a famous attraction on Yulong Snow Mountain. The lake is as clear as jade and the scenery is beautiful.
