Lichuan Ancient City

A millennium-old town, the ancient city of Lichuan in Fuzhou. || Lichuan Ancient City has a history of over 1700 years and is an important passageway from Jiangxi to Fujian. The ancient city is open to the public for free, with some attractions charging separate fees. It is now a national 4A tourist attraction. Similar to other ancient cities in China, it has been uniformly planned and renovated, featuring a combination of a museum, celebrity residences, and a street for snacks and handicrafts. Here's a brief introduction to a few of the attractions that charge a fee. Ancient Bed Museum The museum houses some ancient beds from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China period, mainly showcasing wood carving techniques. There is also an ancient bed museum in Wuzhen with similar highlights. Zhang Henshui's Former Residence This is the main attraction of the visit. Mr. Zhang came to Lichuan at the age of ten with his father, and this place is also where he began his literary enlightenment. The former residence offers a simple overview of Zhang Henshui's life, focusing primarily on the organization of historical and literary materials. His work 'The Family in a Powder Gold Mansion' is too famous. Confucius Temple During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Lichuan was prosperous for a time. In addition to the push from industry and commerce, this place was also a cradle for the imperial examination system. The Lichuan Examination Hall is the only building in Jiangxi that combines an academy (learning), examination hall (testing), and Confucius temple (worship) in one. The visiting experience is a simple introduction to some imperial examination culture, similar to a miniaturized version of the Confucius Temple Imperial Examination Museum. After the May Day holiday, there are almost no tourists in the ancient city during the day. Like many other homogenized ancient cities in China, attractions can be visited with separate tickets. There is also a combined ticket available at the tourist center. It's worth visiting if you're nearby, but there's no need to make a special trip if it's too far. Self-driving is the most convenient option. For public transport, take the bus from Nancheng to Lichuan at the bus station. The fare is fifteen yuan via the expressway, and it takes one hour to reach Lichuan. From there, ride a shared electric bike to the ancient city.
