Everyone should visit Tibet at least once in their lifetime

Recording a summer escape to Tibet by a Beijing resident Check-in cities: Lhasa, Shannan, Nyingchi Travel: ✈️ Beijing, China - Round-trip direct flight to Lhasa, Tibet For my first trip to Tibet, I chose the most convenient option of a direct round-trip flight; I didn't feel the altitude sickness right after getting off the plane, but it hit me as soon as I got out of the taxi at the hotel... In hindsight, it might have been better to fly to the lower-altitude Nyingchi first. Local transportation: 🚄🚕 In Tibet, traveling from Lhasa to cities like Nyingchi and Shannan is quite convenient by train, with two fixed departures daily; within the cities, taxis can solve most transportation issues. However, for visiting places like Yamdrok Lake and Namtso Lake, you need to rent a car or drive yourself. This time, I traveled with friends and chose to rent a car, only driving ourselves in Nyingchi. Overall, it was quite worry-free. Next time, I will try self-driving for the entire trip. Food: 🐂 In Tibet, we ate yak meat hotpot the most, and every place we tried was delicious and unique, worth savoring! Tibetan cuisine generally has a heavy flavor and is meat-heavy, but due to the booming tourism in recent years, there are many other options besides traditional Tibetan food. Accommodation: 🏠 This time, we mainly chose chain hotels and experienced two guesthouses. Overall, the quality of hotels in Tibet is slightly inferior to major cities in the mainland but still acceptable. For friends with severe altitude sickness, oxygen-supplied hotels are very necessary! In Nyingchi and Lhasa, we stayed in two guesthouses and were pleasantly surprised~ The hygiene, environment, and accommodation experience were not inferior to hotels, and we also enjoyed the pleasant experience of meeting strangers and chatting with hospitable hosts. As for the final attractions and scenery, there are too many to count, all etched in my heart, difficult to express in words! The blend of nature, folklore, and religion creates a unique travel experience in Tibet, making it a place worth revisiting in this lifetime!
