Visiting the 'Summer Palace' in winter offers a unique experience!

Exiting the Tibet Museum, just across the road is the Norbulingka, also known as the 'Summer Palace'. It was originally the summer residence of the Dalai Lama, built in the 1740s, and took 200 years to complete. It is a typical Tibetan classical garden and also the highest garden in the world. Currently, the garden is rated as an AAAA tourist attraction. The main palaces in Norbulingka include the Gesang Podrang, Golden Podrang, Tunzin Podrang, Xian Dian Lakang, and Dadan Mingjiu Podrang, among other buildings. Today, Norbulingka is an open garden and the largest man-made garden in Tibet, hailed as the 'Summer Palace of Lhasa'. The garden harmoniously blends old and new architecture, unified yet diverse, gathering buildings from various eras of Tibet, making it a treasure trove of Tibetan architecture. In 1988, Norbulingka was declared a national key cultural relics protection unit by the State Council. In 2001, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
