Leshan Giant Buddha

The Leshan Giant Buddha is by far the tallest pre-modern statue in the world. It was build in the 8th century and features magnificent craftsmanship including the use of wood and clay to give the statue detailed features. The statue towers over the confluence of three rivers and can only be fully appreciated from the water.
